Below are some of their stories and how they benefited from the Reading Tree program: Case 1: Tyler, age 8 began second grade with an early first grade reading level. Within ten months by attending twice a week, his reading level excelled to a third grade reading level. Tyler's family received the benefit as well. Other siblings found the games exciting and improved their reading levels through Tyler's success. Case 2: Lynda, young woman, has always struggled with reading. Now in the work force, Lynda realized she could no longer rely on her memorization of words but truly needed the basic reading concepts to propel herself. Through dedication and hard work, Lynda raised her 5th grade reading level to 12th grade in six months. The one on one teaching helped Lynda establish a comfort zone and allowed her to learn without distractions and keep focus. Case 3: Joshua, age 7, a first grader thought to have special educational needs, propelled himself out of special education classes by improving his reading. With barely a kindergarten reading level, Joshua improved his reading to a third grade level within four months. Case 4: Erika, age 7, entered second grade with a kindergarten reading level. After participating in the program, Erika has reached a third grade reading level and the family feels her increased ability is mainly due to the unique teaching approach of The Reading Tree. Case 5: Candice, age 8, read at a second grade level at second grade however, only read through memorization. Because of this, Candice could not surpass her current level. Once participating in the curriculum, Candice continues in the program with a fourth grade reading level and retooled reading ability. She is now enjoying being in the top reading group at school.
